Jessica Dias Baptista

Feb 2, 1993 — Sep 14, 2026

Cumberland, RI

Jessica Dias Baptista, 33, of Cumberland, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026, with her family by her side after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Born in Taunton, Massachusetts, Jessica was an exceptional student from an early age. She graduated from Cumberland High School as a member of the National Honor Society and later earned her degree with distinction from Rhode Island College, making the dean’s list every semester. She remained close with many of her teachers and professors long after graduation.

Jessica worked as a radiologic technologist and brought compassion and a deep commitment to her patients each day. Patients often requested her because they knew she would treat them with kindness and care. Her work reflected the way she lived her life, always putting others first.

Jessica found joy in reading, her faith, and time spent with the people she loved. She was deeply involved at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Cumberland, where she served as a reader and centered her life around God and her family. Each year, she looked forward to the church’s annual feast and took part in its procession, prayers, and celebration of the miracle of Fatima.

Her parents were her favorite people. She was always her father’s sidekick, lovingly calling him “Tubsy,” and treasured the time she spent with her mother. Jessica loved her family in both America and Portugal, and nothing made her happier than bringing everyone together. She was especially close with her cousins, who were more like her brothers and sisters, and remained close with the same best friends she had known since kindergarten. Jessica also loved children and cherished every opportunity to play with and spend time with her nieces and nephews, Sophia, Jack, and Carson.

Jessica was deeply proud of her Portuguese heritage. Fluent in Portuguese, she loved traveling each year with her parents to Portugal to spend time with family. Those visits brought her tremendous happiness. She also had beautiful handwriting, a small detail that reflected the care she brought to so many parts of her life.

Jessica was also a lifelong baseball fan, especially of the Red Sox and PawSox. As a child, she often attended PawSox games with her parents, always bringing her glove in the hope of catching a home run.

Above all, Jessica will be remembered for her generosity and faith in God, the way she always thought of others. She was the first to help anyone in need. Even while facing cancer, she continued buying gifts for friends and family and focused on what others needed rather than what she was going through. Jessica was deeply loved, and she had a way of making every relationship in her life feel special.

Jessica is survived by her loving parents, Joe and Beatriz Baptista, her grandparents Antonio and Maria Luisa Gomes Dias Coelho, Fernando and Maria Baptista, along with many aunts, uncles, Godparents, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she deeply cared about.

The bond Jessica shared with her parents was at the heart of her life. “We are three, and we will always be three.”
